One of the verses in which we find the word hope is found in Hebrews 11:1 ~ “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” This verse at the beginning of the faith chapter {Hebrews 11} carries with it all the confidence that comes with knowing for sure, and with no question, what we have been promised by God in His Word. Our faith is confident assurance for it is founded upon the Rock of our salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ. All of the actions of the heroes of the faith recorded in Hebrews 11 were made possible because they had this faith, based in their confident assurance, or hope in God. As believers, we are also called to give an answer for that hope that is within us to any who would ask.

Biblical hope when anchored in Jesus Christ is a reality and not a feeling. Hope carries no doubt and is the very sure foundation upon which we base our lives, believing that God always keeps His promises. Hope, or our confident assurance can be ours when we trust the words: “He who believes on Me has everlasting life” … {John 6:4}
Accepting the gift of eternal life means our hope is no longer filled with doubt, but rather, has at its sure foundation the whole of God’s Word, the entirety of God’s character, and the finished work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our Hope lives; His Name is LORD Jesus Christ.
Comments(0) Heavenfirst — May 27, 2010 — The moving of the hand of God seems to say at times that, hindsight is 20/20. Often when we are going through a difficult or confusing time we are unaware of how God is guiding us. Many years later it becomes apparent why God brought us through an experience in the way He did. Looking back, the hand of God can be clearly seen moving, guiding, protecting us, etc. A time of trial is rarely enjoyable, but at the same time, there are many instances where a trial or struggle is looked upon as the most meaningful spiritual time in a person’s life. This is why James exhorts us to “consider it pure joy” {James 1:2} when we encounter various trials, because they are immensely valuable to our spiritual lives.
How do we recognize the hand of God moving in our lives? We must familiarize ourselves with God’s Word {2 Timothy 3:16~17} which tells us about who God is, and what He does. Reading the Bible each day helps us to better understand how God works and how we should respond to Him. We must also communicate with God through prayer, ask Him for wisdom {James 1:5} and His help so we can recognize and submit to His hand. We can ask God to help us learn His lesson for whatever time His hand is bringing us through a difficult time. And we must thank Him for doing so.
We must trust in God. While it is not wrong to ask questions in a spirit of humility, it is wrong to doubt God’s goodness or the quality of His plan for our lives. We often make an ordeal worse by not trusting and obeying God, and by not learning the intended lesson He has for us.
The hand of God is a symbol of God’s guidance, instruction, and discipline. The more we recognize the hand of God, the better we will be able to follow His lead. Through the study of His Word, through a strong prayer life, and an abiding trust in God, we can learn to recognize, trust, and enjoy the hand of God moving in our lives … He is our Rock of Refuge. Jesus Christ is the Rock upon which we stand.

The Word of God calls upon every believer, both young & old, to trust that God is in control as He orders our steps. As life’s experiences & circumstances unfold we are ever infused with God’s Amazing Grace and having been set free in Jesus, we are free to trust that it is acceptable to live before God with an open hand, and an expectant heart. The Lord our God will never forsake us nor leave us, and most blessed is the one who makes the Lord his trust …

Comments(0) When Jesus carried His cross up Golgotha to be crucified, no one was thinking of the cross as symbolic of a burden to carry. To a person in the 1st century, the cross meant only 1 thing; death by the most painful and humiliating means human beings could have developed.
2,000 years later, Christians view the cross as a cherished symbol of atonement, forgiveness, grace, and love. But in Jesus’ day the cross represented nothing but a torturous and humiliating death. Because the Romans forced convicted criminals to carry their own crosses to the place of crucifixion, bearing a cross meant carrying their own execution device while facing ridicule along the way to that death.
Therefore, ‘Take up your cross and follow Me’ means being willing to die in order to follow Christ Jesus. This is called dying to self and it is our absolute surrender to Christ the Lord.
After each time Jesus commanded cross bearing He said:
“For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?”
{Luke 9:24~25}
Commitment to The Lord Jesus Christ means taking up your cross daily; it could mean giving up your hopes, your dreams, your possessions and even your very life, if need be for the cause of Christ. Only if you willingly take up your cross may you be called His true and loyal disciple.
{Luke 14:27}
The Eternal reward is worth the price we might pay personally, as an Incoruptible Inheritance awaits those who do His service. Jesus followed His call of death to self: Take up your cross and follow Me with the gift of life in Christ …
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it
